Description:
While many courses cover the techniques to immediate load, very few cover the steps for the final restoration. It is up to the restorative dentist to provisionalize and restore the case. Too often, questions about how to achieve the desired esthetic result go unanswered.
In this course, impression techniques to capture soft tissue around implants and accurately transfer the information to the laboratory will be presented as well as impression techniques to capture ovate pontic sites and accurately transfer the information to the laboratory.
It is the goal of this course to address these concerns so that attendees will be able to immediately incorporate the techniques that they have learned into their own practices, offering their patients achievable esthetic results. This seminar will be helpful to restorative dentists and surgeons alike.
This presentation will answer the following questions:
- What does the general dentist do after the patient returns from the surgeon after implant placement and osseointegration or after immediate placement?
- What is the biology related to the implant/soft tissue interface?
- What are the provisionalization options during bone regeneration and osseointegration? what are the materials and armamentarium for fabricating life-like provisionals?
- What are the chair-side provisionalization strategies during and after osseointegration? How do you fine-tune the soft tissue form?
- What are the problems associated with soft tissue reproduction around implants in the esthetic zone?

Description:
As patient demand for cosmetic dentistry continues to grow, many dentists invest considerable time, effort, and money mastering various cosmetic procedures and techniques. While this is commendable, it should be recognized that it is one thing to be able to make pretty teeth, and an entirely different thing to make pretty teeth that actually last and function in harmony with the rest of the masticatory system. The successful clinician requires a logical and systematic methodology in approaching prosthetic/cosmetic cases that will lead to a predictable and durable end result. This necessitates a practical understanding of the fundamental occlusal principles and materials, and how to use them. Just what is the difference between centric relation (CR), centric occlusion (CO), and maximum intercuspation (MIP)? How do you know what to use where? Clinical cases will be shown and discussed.
This Presentation will focus on:
- envisioning the big picture: total dentistry for total success;
- cosmetics and occlusion: it looks great, but will it last?
- the comprehensive exam: the place to start;
- anatomy and diagnosis of the TMJ: occlusion begins here;
- introduction to occlusal science: force be with you?
- facebow transfers: why and how;
- centric relation bite records: bilateral manipulation, Lucia jigs, Leaf gages, etc;
- esthetics and function: why you must have both to be successful;
- how to approach a full mouth reconstruction: CR? MIP? NM?
- when to use CR... and when not to;
- vertical dimension: how do you determine where it should be?
- neuromuscular occlusion: fact or fiction? and
- effective lab communication: a critical key to success.
